A little bit about CSPS:

Our Playschool has been a part of Crawford Street UMC for over 30 years. What started as a single half-day kindergarten class has grown into what is offered today to our church family and community. As always, we exists to provide a nurturing, Christian environment where we help pre-school aged children explore, investigate, enjoy, and prepare for a lifetime of learning and discovery!

CSPS is a place where children begin learning "how to learn" in a group setting. Our energetic and caring staff organizes the school environment, using thematic units to create opportunities for children to interact with different materials, other children and adults, and to promote age-appropriate skill and concept development. Each day children choose from a range of centers and activities that accommodate their diverse learning styles and developmental levels. Class meetings create opportunities for sharing and expressing feelings and opinions as well as provide patience in listening and speaking and increasing attention spans. Spontaneous and planned activities serve as stimuli for learning at Playschool!

On the playground and in the classroom children receive support in acquiring independence, taking initiative, feeling confidence in their own abilities as well as respecting the abilities of others. Both fine and gross motor skill development is emphasized in the outdoor and indoor learning environment through activities like jumping, running, climbing, painting, writing, using scissors and manipulative materials.

As you can see, it is a priority of our staff to assist your child in learning to assume increasing responsibility for themselves and for their interactions with others as they work and play! Playschool is a GREAT place to GROW -- physically, intellectually, spiritually, and emotionally.

CSPS is a licensed facility by the MS State Department of Health. We offer small teacher to child ratio classes Monday through Friday for children ages 12 months through 5 years old. Our Playschool Director is always ready and available to answer any questions you may have about this exciting and important ministry we offer our pre-school aged children!
